Kuza Beach Cozumel review: is it worth the price? Get honest tips, pass costs, and how to reach it from the cruise port. Read now!
On a Cozumel cruise port day, similar search tools point you toward Kuza Beach Cozumel and similar search tools and every time you think to yourself I couldn’t be more curious and ask yourself: “Is this place really even worth it or is it just a resort that’s expensive?”
Here’s my two-minute takeaway. Kuza Beach is fantastic for families, friends and anyone else who doesn’t want to deal with organizing a day at the beach, the on-beach logistics of being on the beach all day, and wants to eat and drink and be entertained without much effort. It’s definitely not likely to be the place for a dedicated snorkerucker, the bargain hunter, or a private beach lover. If you are building a list of the Best Mexico Places to Go for Every Traveler, Kuza Beach is an easy stop to consider for a relaxed port day.
Are you still with me? Good, get yourself a coffee and I will walk you through everything: what is Kuza, the price, how to get from the port, what my day actually looked like, and the mistakes you can learn from!

What Is the Concept of Kuza Beach and Adventure Park?
I’ll be honest: I remember when I heard about Kuza Beach Club for the first time, and I immediately assumed it was just another beach club. You know, like a little beach set up with a few Beach chairs, a bar and a speaker playing the same 3 a.m. playlist.
God I didn‘t even just think that possible!
Kuza is a mini-resort for a beach. Think about it as a food truck versus a food court. Both are going to give you food, but one just gives you a lot more. P.S. Kuza comes from the ancient name for Cozumel, Kuzamil. That could be the coolest branding decision I’ve seen in a while.
The park is divided into different areas, and a quick look at the map will help you choose the right pass.
This is how the park is split up:
The Beach Zone
The heart of the site. approximately 1 km of unspoiled beach, lined with palm trees, loungers, hammocks, beach bars and loadsa space. Almost all of the day-passes don’t go past the beach.
Family Zones
There are only two zones at our destination with kid-friendly rides and a splash zone for the whole family, including a water slide, lazy river and a splash zone. When you’re on vacation with a family with young children, you’ll likely stay in the family zones.
The Adults-Only Area
If you’ve seen some seven-year-old get off a slingshot while you’re within punching distance of his face, then you know why this exists. It is a place free from all of the other riffraff where you can sip wine and have a chat.
The Adventure Zone
Zip lines, canopy walk and an observation bridge for adrenaline lovers who have a few naps to take.
Mayan-Inspired Marketplace.
Well-thought-out items and cultural experiences of a village-style nature; beautifully simple and manageable to peruse, this is a great chance to purchase an item that isn’t a plastic sombrero.
They do make a small effort to have some conservation initiatives which include re-forestation and turtle releases , which is kind of you if you are one of those concerned about your holiday cash.
How Much Does It Cost to Get to Kuza Beach?
This is the question people ask me most often. And, to be brutally honest, this was the one that left me most stumped when I was planning my own trip.
There is not merely one ‘ticket’. Sure, there are actually six ‘tickets’, and the best one relies on your own signifiers of having a day at the beach. Here’s a actually quick peek at the primary options:
| Pass Type | What You Get | Who It’s Best For |
| Day Pass | Beach access loungers Entertainment Beach games | If you prefer to get individual items and the cost is not an issue for you. |
| All-Inclusive Pass | Full-day park access, a buffet meal, and an open bar with domestic drinks. | Dropping out math for groups and beer drinkers |
| RZR Adventure Bundle | Red because it is inherited from the guided tours of Aitutaki, the main resort, taking off and, of course, opening in a 10-star hotel along with a noon buffet and a beer. | Additional Rollercoaster Challenges |
| El Cielo Snorkel Combo | El Cielo – the Ultimate Sandbar Party snorkel tripKuza Full day at Kuza with buffet and open bar | Water junkies who love a good swim and the blue ocean. |
Based on my research, I found that day passes were going for $69 pp (via outside excursion vendors) and the El Cielo snorkel combo was going for $185 per adult. Please note: taxi fare is typically extra.
One more fee to be aware of: $12 is charged by the Cozumel Marine Park Authority to snorkelers and divers who wish to visit the marine park zone in order to help fund the protection of the reef. It’s only $12, but many aren’t expecting it!
Day Pass vs. All-Inclusive?
Here‘s my thinking. The all-inclusive pass is kind of like ordering the combo meal instead of a la carte. If you‘re planning to have lunch and 2 or 3 drinks regardless, the combo is almost always going to be the more economical choice. The day pass is only going to be worthwhile if you‘re just interested in a snack and soda.
My rule of thumb for groups: For a group of adults who plan to have a few cocktails, go all-inclusive. For a handful of kids who will be hanging out by the pool, the day pass is a real deal.
How to Get to Kuza Beach From the Cruise Port
Most anxious about anything in this section. Not about the cost, not about the weather. The returning.
Kuza is not a walkable distance from the cruise terminals. It’s about a 25-30 minute drive in a taxi, costing about $25 USD one way. Some cruise line excursions include rides; ask, or you can buy them through a third-party transportation company.
Here’s what I’d recommend:
- Decide how to book It is safest to travel with the cruise line, as the ship will hold for you if the official ship-shore excursion is delayed. Booking independently can often be cheaper, but this is your responsibility.
- {Add a little more time} Allow Kuza a minimum of 2 hours before your ship’s all-aboard time. You will need more time to get a taxi or walk to the boat due to traffic and queues.
- Rate before you start to ride.1/ Always agree on the price before getting on board.
- Available Cash. USbills work for you!
I learned it in a much more humbling way. When I first visited the city, years ago, I barely made it back to the ship from my first visit to Cozumel, and I can remember power-walking down the dock, with a bag of damp towels, my nose welder red by the sun, that half-run-half-jog that dooms the unconvincing to failure. Never again. Now I plan all the time on board as an airline departure.
My Day at Kuza Beach: What It Was Really Like
That was the path I actually took earlier today, since you can only get so much from a brochure.
We got off the boat just after 8 a.m. and the port was in chaos. Vendors, taxi drivers and two thousand cruise ships passengers all thought of the same thing at the same time.
Getting to Kuza Beach
The taxi was another 30 minutes. And the country breaks away from the grid. Less gift shops, more brush, and flat open roads. We pulled off and the kids have gone silent (parent tongue for who cares).
The check-in process was a breeze – wristbands in hand, areas assigned, and everyone at ease. That was it –that was the best part – no rushing around. That’s what I love most about Kuza – it’s built for taking it slow.
The real beach looked beautiful (quality time at the beach, say that three times fast), lots of soft sand, turquoise water and lounges in the shade. A tip: some areas of the beach are rocky. Like a total rook I didn’t bring water shoes and suffered the consequences with a long conversation with my feet. Don’t be me. Bring the shoes.
Lunch was a thrill. I remain wary of the quality of cafeteria food at any resort facility because of how unpredictable it can be. This was quite delicious, abundant, and all we had to do to appease demanding children and foodies alike was to fill our plates. Even my sister and in this unofficial competition and ranking for the toughest food critic there is, I’d be hard-pressed to beat her spooned up for seconds. That’s practically five-star.
What I liked most about the afternoon was that we had live music, the kids found some friends on the beach, I was relaxing in a hammock with a cocktail and I thought, THIS is how you should spend the port days!
Perfect? Well, not quite. By noon, the beach was packed; all the best spaces had been taken. Reach the top square early.

The Pros and Cons of Kuza Beach
I have some real reviews so let me put up mine, with no sugar coating.
What I Loved
- It‘s everything you need. Food, drink, shade, kids entertainment, toilets and more. No need to book anything in advance.
- It works effectively with a mixed congregation. Whether children, young people, parents or even grandparents!
- The adult-only environment. Perfect when you need to escape and be pampered.
- The food. Better than I anticipated, though somewhat limited.
- The mood. Live music and beach games maintain the atmosphere energetically so that it never gets overly intense.
What Could Be Better
- Four point Rock Shoes are pretty much a necessary item everywhere.
- Distance. The car travelling introduces an additional effort of time, cost and transfer of business.
- People inspect when we are busy. This place can be full of people when we have a couple of ships in the quay.
- Pulling a Line Early is a Good Line. First-come loungers. Early bibs (venipunctures) count.
- Time of year. The water clarity, weed, can vary throughout the season.
Add to your collection Which of these do you think is your favourite? It is a great and really comfortable day at the beach which gives a little piece of quiet and tranquillity for the excellent dose of function.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Kuza Beach Day
That’s all from my visit and, after bouncing ideas off of other travelers, the advice I wish someone had given me before I traveled.
- Come early. I know, you’ve heard this before. The early bird catches the best grills and the most peaceful beach.
- Pack water shoes Yep, once more. They are price range, lightweight and totally will make you a better (or no less than a bit comfortable) hiker.
- Reef safe sunscreen because the sun in Cozumel is absolutely intense. (and of course why not be kind to the reefs?!)
- Take a plastic bag the size of a wallet. It will protect your phone, money and a key from the water.
- Choose the pass that best fits your lifestyle. Do the math before you buy.
- Look at the time. Turn your phone off silent and set an alarm for the exact time you plan to leave.
- Take it easy. Don’t overexert yourself. Rest, and be compensated. For those who get it, Kuza is for you. For those who are open to listening, Sigel is for you. Enjoy it for you. Further Reading. Kuza Beach vs. Other Cozumel Beach Clubs
There are over a dozen beach clubs in Cozumel, and every single one of them has something very specific about it. Here’s what I’d say about the variations.
Local, informal beach clubs These are in the more southern part of the area around the town. They are much more laid back, local and cheaper. Beaches are closer to the town so taxis might be shorter and cheaper.
Kuza is at the other end of that spectrum – larger and more lively and with more systems in place. If the beachclubs were all restaurants, the small ones are like neighborhood taco stands, and Kuza is like a largish family eatery with lots of things on the menu.
One is not worse than the other. It all just depends on what sort of day you are after.
Who Should Visit Kuza Beach
Kuza is a great fit if you:
- Travelling with Kids and Multi-generation Group
- In search of a one stop lazy beach day
- Enjoy live music and a joyful vibe
- Like having food, drink and entertainment combined
You might want to skip it if you:
- Likes walking on an empty beach away from the crowd 0 likes
- Looking for the least expensive port day Or maybe you are just going budget-friendly and hoping to get the most value from each port day.
- „Head for the gallery: diving, snorkeling” Are on the island mainly for diving or snorkeling
- Are anxious about the Get to the taxi and time
Frequently Asked Questions About Kuza Beach Cozumel
What is Kuza Cozumel?
Yes, for most families and groups the value for the convenience, food and entertainment more than make the price, especially if you are to purchase the all inclusive. Backpackers and individuals will be expensive.
What Distance Is Kuza Beach from the Cruise Port
Around 25-30 minutes by taxi, pay’s depending on traffic & which wharf your cruise departs/ships from.
Is Kuza Beach and Dive Resort kid friendly?
Yes. Includes two family sections, one of which is equipped with a water park, lazy river, splashing ground, and lagoon. Follow the children in the water, no more than a few arm‘s length away.
Is this a section for adults?
Q: Is it kid friendly?A: Yes. We have a more relaxed 21+ area called Kuza.
Prefer rocky or sandy shores?
Both. There are beaches and some rocky areas. Remember your water shoes.
Are holiday chairs necessary to be bought?
No, chairs are available on a first come first served basis. The earlier you arrive the better!
Is there any food and drink?
It really depends on the pass. A lot of half day passes will give you beach use and activities but then you will need to buy food and drinks separately. All inclusive passes have the buffet style lunch and domestic open bar.
How to Book a Kuza Reservation Can I make my own Kuza booking or do I have to go through the cruise line?
Both are effective. Booking with the cruise line means the ship will wait for official excursions. Taking an independent route may be cheaper, but you are responsible for being back on time.
Conclusion: Should Your Cozumel Day Be at Kuza Beach?
This is my conclusion.
Kuza Beach is not the most affordable or relaxing way to spend your day in Cozumel. But it might be the simplest. And after a week filled with early mornings, early evenings, and tightly packed days, simple sounds pretty good.
It was a minor miracle that afternoon. In the copse, by 4:00 p.m. I’d somehow managed to sit in the shade, while all the kids joyfully splashed around in the shallows, the music was softly playing in the background, and no one in our group was hungry, exhausted or…well, lost. This isn’t a foregone conclusion each vacation.
If that sounds like the kind of day you’d love to have, then Kuza is worth a visit. Bring your water shoes, plan ahead to get back to the boat early, and arrive early to claim a good lounger.
