Journese Travel: An Honest Review of This Luxury Brand

Journese Travel review: what this luxury brand offers, who it suits, how to book, and whether it’s legit. Read this before you go.

The first time I was introduced to Journese, while reading The Best Guide to Luxury Holidays, I thought perhaps somebody screwed up the name and only wrote “journey”, and I would have corrected them. The second time I saw it, it was in a very glossy brochure of a very upscale travel company and I just couldn’t help myself. After a few early-morning Googles, I was immersed in brochures, trade publications and booking sites trying to understand what the hell is Journese Travel.

If you pasted the same phrase into Google hello. Sit down. Here’s what I found, how that didn’t add up, and what I was dying to ask during our call.

Before I get into it: I haven’t booked a Journese trip myself, so this isn’t one of those, “Here’s my dream honeymoon” deals. I’ve just researched the brand and told you about it the way I’d tell my bestie over a cup of coffee. If I don’t know, I’ll always be honest and let you know.

What Is Journese Travel? The Short Answer

Journese Journese is the luxury brand of Pleasant Holidays, which is a family-owned travel company that has been creating travel experiences for families and friends since 1977. The culture at Pleasant Holidays is to craft all-inclusive 4- and 5-star vacations- the best resorts, private villas, trains, cruises and premium expertly planned tours through a Destination Specialist.

That’s the lead. There it is. This is what independent, high-quality traders do. They are not a trip organiser; they are not an APThey are more like purchasing a suit over the counter. You tell them how far you want to go, and they plan your whole trip around that.

Why the Name Is So Confusing

That is the point where my research took a different turn, a somewhat stream-of-consciousness one: Search for “Journese” and you get many hits:

  • Trade content. Loads (loads!) of pages of info are aimed at the travel advisor, including plenty of brochures, sales tools and itinerary libraries. As a regular traveler blowing my way through them all, it was a bit like walking into a restaurant through the kitchen door.
  • Listings for consumer audiences. Several of our membership and/or vacation sites feature Journese trips for the everyday consumer [see our list of what us Journese/RegAL programmes].
  • A different business with the same or similar name. One local TV station found a small travel agency based in Traverse City, Michigan, operating under the Journese Travel identity. I haven’t been able to determine if they’re still in business, so be cautious you’re researching the right business.
  • Typos. Some people may have been searching for “journey travel” and G. Google quite happily serves them up something else.

All became much clearer pretty quickly after I got these piles ordered! And this is the Pleasant Holidays luxury brand.

How Journese and Pleasant Holidays Are Connected

This was my much more personal “ohhh, that’s why” moment. Pleasant Holidays is the parent tour operator that appeals to every type of traveler, prioritizing service and value: families, honeymoons, destination weddings and groups. The more upscale sister brand is Journese.

A good comparable is a car manufacturer and a luxury line. The manufacturer produces reliable vehicles for the masses, and the luxury label is where you go if you want leather seats, the special touch and the showroom salesman who remembers your name. Same roots, very different ride.

What Journese Actually Sells

This is the promise the brand is making to its customer, and the analysis I go through when I read through this.

Each accommodation hand-selected

Journese also features a curated collection of four- and five-star resorts and hotels, as well as luxury vacation homes, private residences and private resort residences. The company says its team visits and personally selects every property is a key component of the sales pitch. Ever stayed at a “luxury” hotel that was falling apart? Then you know what to stay away from.

The flight travel and transfer

The brand mentions all kinds of air service so that you reserve economy, business, or first course relying on your money and luxury degree. But then there are personal transfers, that are simply the type of little luxuries that go unrecognized as to occur when you are totally exhausted from a coastal flight with a spirit stranger probably sported with an indicator with your title on it.

Trains, Cruises and Experiences

Then of course there are your beds, your flights, and your luxury trains, cruise alternatives, and more indulgent activities: private guides, spa time, water sports, arts and cultural experiences. From my trip-planning experience , this is the part I spend the most energy on getting right. Package aisling that can help.

Sample itineraries

I liked the online library of over 60 sample itineraries broken into nine categories: adventure; culinary; cultural; family; multi-generational; romance; spa and golf; cruise and train; pre-cruise/post-cruise. It’s geared mostly to be a resource of inspiration for travelers and their advisors; still, a tool itineraries for travelers to learn what to look for in each offer to see the complete picture of an experience if it might be of interest.

Traveling With Journese Where Can You Travel With Journese?

The exhibitions at previous destinations are long lists. According to a certain origin and an occurrence of the year, the brand has identified at several destinations:

  • The Hawaiian Islands
  • The Caribbean
  • Mexico and Central and South America
  • Europe
  • Africa
  • Asia and the Middle East
  • Australia and New Zealand
  • The South Pacific, including Fiji, Tahiti and the Cook Islands
  • The United States and Canada

Of what I’ve seen, many mention Hawaii, the Caribbean and South Pacific so those are the brands’ favorites, I think. Destinations may evolve, of course, so this is just a snapshot and be sure to verify the current ones!

Who Journese Is Best For

After all that reading, here’s who I think would get the most out of it:

  • Travel with special occasions. Honeymoons and milestone anniversaries and destination weddings are occasions you might want to avoid surprises.
  • Juggling people. If the mere thought of 40 browser tabs running simultaneously terrifies you, then consider outsourcing your planning to a professional.
  • Multi-generational families. Running around to care for grandparents, parents and children is nearly a fulltime job. A professional might be justified for that alone.
  • Luxury travelers. Four- and Five-star accommodation is the ‘standard’.

Who Might Want to Look Elsewhere

I’d rather be honest than salesy, so here’s the flip side. Journese probably isn’t your best bet if:

  • Looking for the absolute best price. Made to measure luxury doesn’t come cheap.
  • You take joy in taking care of everything and love the planning part of it. Me as well. I spent three weekends searching for a four day trip to San Francisco, and booked the first hotel I came across. If that’s you, plans are just more work.
  • Wish you were here, reserve online now, at 2 a.m. in your pajamas. Commercial-type models feel less one-person operation than self-serve.

How Do I Make a Booking With Journese Travel?

So that’s the question I couldn’t nail down in one place, but I gathered the answer.

To my knowledge, at least so far, Journese has only been sold through travel advisors, so an agent in your locale should be able to book a trip with the products listed. Some consumer-facing listings, such as the listing on membership vacation pages, offer travelers the ability to book or request a quote by phone. Unfortunately, phone numbers tend to change, and I don’t want to publish an incorrect number.

A practical way to approach it:

  1. Decide on a tentative budget and time plan. Although just a rough estimate of budget and schedule greatly assist your expert.
  2. Select a destination or a vibe “Somewhere warm and with a good spa” would do.
  3. Speak with a Journese or a travel professional. Where can I request a quote? Request a quote from a Journese or a travel professional.
  4. Ask for your written quote. View a breakdown of how much your holiday costs including: flights and airport taxes; hotel, transfers, and activities.
  5. Ask whether it is flexible. Question how the project will change if the plans change.

Is Journese Legit?

A handful of trust signals were prominent. The first identified itself as the company being organized in 1977 and as a US Tour Operators Association member, providing access to a travel assist program where members pay into a $1 million protection fund. That’s worth something to travelers in the unlikely event of any of the participating operator’s collapse. Its brand also appeared on magazine pages and partner and member pages.

Anyhow, I am not a lawyer or consumer-advocacy agency, and “legit” is not equivalent to “good for you”. Before you spend any money, check the details, ask about refund/cancellation clauses, and consider travel insurance. I’ve been a “belt and suspenders” guy when it comes to travel insurance, that is, dull until the moment I need it.

Advantages and Disadvantages in Brief

Pros

  • Lived in long history, and focus on high end
  • Customized travel arrangements instead of readymade packages
  • Travel destinations’ diversity
  • Book Flights, Transfers, Cruises & Activities All in One Place
  • Tour operator and association

Cons

  • Pricing does not take centre stage and can be fairly obscured in the mix, so briefings will probably demand your time for quotes, etc.
  • The majority of the case material is consumed in the guide, much to the annoyance of the business traveler.
  • Probably costs more than zxing your pieces yourself.
  • The similar-sounding names will take you to the wrong company.

Alternatives Worth Comparing

Not sure? Then it’s well worth getting a couple of quotes. You might compare Journese with other luxury tour operators, independent travel counsellors with expertise in your destination or luxury hotel brands directly selling. But make sure to pose the same questions to every one so that you’re comparing apples with apples. It’s like test-driving two cars down the same road – you’ll find so much more than if you’re just reading brochures.

Tips Before You Contact Them

  • High stakes, so specify at the outset. Is it a swimmable private pool, or the initials or a kid-friendly hold onto the property? Specify right.
  • Be honest about your budget. A good specialist can help you make it work.
  • Inquire about what is included. You may be surprised by hidden costs such as resort fees, transfer and activity fees.
  • Check the schedules Going for a booking in high season? Fast bookings.
  • Always make a record of material. Your future self will thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

L. Are Pleasant Holidays and Is Journese the same thing?

Not really. Journese is a sister company of Pleasant Holidays , which means they are much related but Journese is a gift, a more customized service for them.

Selling to the Public;does journeys publish to the public.

Some consumer listings have travelers calling the listing’s phone number to either book or price it out. Though it has historically partnered with travel agents, the safest route is to go to the listing’s website and learn how to book.

Is Japanese safe?

It has been around since 1977 and is also a member of USTOA, both very positive signs. But always do your vital due diligence of the trip’s cancellation policy and insurance coverage before booking a tour.

What kind of Journeze is highlighted?

Specialists in custom-designed four- and five-star vacations – resorts, villas, flights, private transfers, trains, cruises and elegant tours from the Hawaiian Islands and Caribbean to Europe, Asia and South Pacific.

Are Journese Travel Guides Good?

More than likely. Being a very high-end, bespoke, luxury affair, it will probably be targeted at visitors wanting the comfort and savoir-faire rather than the minuscule price.

Final Note: Can I hope to Eakeiise’ you do?

I tumbled down this rabbit hole ready for a typo and pretty well came up with a clear picture. Voyage travel is a premium booking platform by Pleasant Holidays offering bespoke, high-end trips and concierge services. It may not be for all, and most of the adviser-centric information in the post painted it as an exclusive club or club for members – at least for the time being. However, if you prefer someone else to handle the planning and arrangements of an essential trip, you might want to keep it in mind.

My advice? Get a quote, get as many questions and answers as you can, and then go with what you feel. A travel specialist ought to have you leaving in a much more relaxed state of mind than panicked – if you’ve traveled with Journese, let me know how it went, because nothing beats the real thing.

Trusted Resources to Check Before You Book

  • Vault: 1 MillionUSD Vault : protection up to 1 Million USD in the aggregate of deposits, payments and/or deposits made to USTOA member tour operators in the unlikely event of default or insolvency. Such protection is inclusive of any resultant credit card charge backs or insurance. It is not integrated as part of travel insurance.
  • Journese on USTOA : Our own listing for Journese on the association’s website where you can confirm USTOA membership before taking a blogger’s word for it.
